About the Institute in Brief
Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Asia’s first Space University was established under the Department of Space in September 2007. IIST is presently offering 4-year B. Tech programmes in “Aerospace Engineering”, “Avionics” and “Physical Sciences”. Ph. D programmes have already been initiated, while the M. Tech programmes and Post-Doctoral Fellowship in specific areas of Space Science and Technology will be offered soon. IIST provides a vibrant and stimulating environment for research works and the Institute is setting up state-of-the-art facilities including high performance computing facilities to create the right research ambience. IIST will also have research collaborations and scientific exchanges with reputed national and international academic and research organisations. The first phase of construction of IIST’s permanent campus, spread over an area of 90 acres at Valiamala near Thiruvananthapuram, is nearing completion.

Age Limit: 45 years for Professors and Associate Professors; 40 years for Assistant Professor.

Salaray/Emoluments:

Pay band 4 (Rs.37,400-67,000/- with Grade Pay of Rs.8,900/-) for Professor.

Pay band 4 (Rs.37,400-67,000/- with Grade Pay of Rs.8,700/-) for Associate Professor.

Pay band 3 (Rs.15,600-39,100/- with Grade Pay of Rs.7,600/-) for Assistant Professor.

+ HRA-20% and DA-27%.

Important Info:Candidates
Should possess Ph.D degree in relevant area of specialization.
Should possess first class in B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./B.A and M.Sc. /M.E. /M. Tech/ M.A.
Experience for Professor : Five years at Associate Professor Level
Experience for Associate Professor : Four years Teaching/ Research Experience of which at least 2 years should be at Assistant Professor level
Assistant professor : Significant research contribution.

The qualification and experience prescribed are minimum requirements and do not automatically make candidates eligible to be called for interview. Institute reserves the right not to fill-up all or any of the posts.

Osamu Shimomura (born August 27, 1928) is a Japanese organic chemist and marine biologist, and Professor Emeritus at Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) in Woods Hole, Massachusetts and Boston University Medical School. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2008 for the discovery and development of green fluorescent protein (GFP) with two American scientists.


Martin Chalfie (born January 15, 1947) is an American scientist. He is the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Biological Sciences at Columbia University, where he is also chair of the department of biological sciences.He shared the 2008 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with two other scientists for the discovery and development of the green fluorescent protein, GFP"

Roger Yonchien Tsien ( born February 1, 1952) is an American biochemist and a professor at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of California, San Diego. He was awarded the 2008 Nobel Prize in chemistry "for his discovery and development of the green fluorescent protein (GFP) with two other chemists.

Project Associate and JRF Vacancies at National Institute of Immunology,New Delhi

What is this all about?
Job vacancies at National Institute of Immunology NII in the following Projects

1. Chemical biology of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and MMP inhibitors (MMPi) -a new paradigm for inhibitor design based on glycopeptidomimetics for anti-cancer drug development.


2. Glycobiology Oriented Nanotools: Mechanism based glycosyl epitopes for nanoparticle and quantum dot conjugation: a) detection, separation, and inhibition of enzymes involved in glycosylation;
b) early detection of pathogens; and
c) imaging of cancer cells.

Who Can Apply?
1. PROJECT ASSOCIATE- Ph.D in Biochemistry / Molecular Biology / Cell Biology / Chemistry (Candidates should clearly specify whether thesis for Ph.D Degree has been submitted & viva is awaited or Ph.D Degree has been awarded, along with the date of submission of Thesis or date of award of degree, whichever is applicable.

2. J.R.F. (PROJECT)- M Sc. in Chemistry / Organic Chemistry or equivalent with experience (Please note that the candidates who have appeared for Final year M Sc and are awaiting their results are not eligible. Only those candidates whose results have been declared at the time of submission of application may apply).

Salaray:
The selected candidates will draw consolidated emoluments as per Institute Rules.

Important Info:
1. The posts exist in sponsored projects and are purely temporary. There shall be no claim for regularisation against any core posts of the Institute.

2. For Project Associate, Ph.D and who have qualified National qualifying examination NET/GATE/CSIR/ICMR will be given preference.

3. The candidates selected for the above posts will be on contract for one year or duration of the project whichever is shorter, at a time. The contract wherever applicable can be renewed on year to year basis within the project duration, subject to a maximum period of 7 years accumulation in one/several project.

4. The Project Associate will be paid consolidated emoluments in any of the three slabs indicated above depending on the qualifications, experience, and suitability subject to the recommendations of the Selection Committee. Project Assistant will be paid emoluments indicated above. No allowances, perks are payable over and above the consolidated emoluments. Rules and regulations governing the terms of appointment will be as applicable to the project staff.

5. No hostel/ housing facility will be provided. However allotment of shared dormitory accommodation can be considered depending on availability. No HRA will be payable if such accommodation is availed of.

6. Number of posts may vary and shall be need based. Advertisement is no commitment.

7. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.

8. The Institute reserves the right to alter the designation of the posts any time at its discretion. These posts can also be filled in a lower grade at the discretion of the Institute, in case suitable candidates with requisite qualification and experience are not forthcoming.
