Applications are invited from suitable candidates for one position of Junior Research Fellow in a BRNS funded research project on "Studies on regulation of cell growth by BRCA ½ in prostate cancer cells; influence of certain selected quinones” in the Cancer Cell Biology Laboratory.
Who Can Apply?
M.Sc in Biotechnology with a minimum of 60% marks (for both B.Sc. and M.Sc.) is essential. Candidates with NET/GATE qualifications and experience in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques are preferred.
Age: Below 35 years
Area of Work/Job profile: Cancer biology/Junior Research Fellow
Fellowship/Stipend: Rs.12,000/- consolidated per month
Duration: Three years or till termination of the project (whichever is earlier).

A two-week Refresher Course on ‘Frontiers in Atmospheric Sciences’ will be held at Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune during June 14 to 25, 2010 for college/university teachers and post-graduate students. Atmospheric science has emerged as an important branch of science in recent times because of its increasing recognition and the need for better forecasting of weather and climate to meet the exigencies of the threats due to natural calamities such as floods, droughts, and lightning or due to man-made deterioration of the environment. Project Training/Final Year Project for Post Graduate Students at National Institute of Plant Genome Research
Project Training at NIPGR
Details
Outstanding students in post-graduate programme of other Institutions can carry out project work under the supervision of the Institute's scientists towards partial fulfillment of the post-graduate degree.
The training can be carried out for a minimum period of 3 to 6 months. Opportunities are also available for short-term/summer trainees in the Institute through sponsored programmes from government agencies such as the KVPY, JNCASR, INSA/IAS/NASI. The Institute is unable to entertain direct applications form candidates seeking such placements.
The requests must come from the Heads of Departments, and must provide the academic resumes of the recommended student(s) as well as the period of proposed project work. These should be sent to the concerned scientist directly.
Request will be considered on the basis of available vacancies. Each scientist can accommodate maximum of two trainees at a given time.
The minimal eligibility criterion for consideration of the requests is first division or an equivalent grade (or at least 60% of aggregate scores) in graduation or equivalent exam.
