Who Can Apply?
Candidates must be nationals of an ICGEB Member State and may not apply for fellowships to be undertaken in the country of their origin. Italian/Indian/South African nationals who are resident abroad may apply for fellowships to ICGEB Trieste, New Delhi and Cape Town, respectively, and must provide evidence that they are working/living abroad.

Applicants should be holders of a recent Ph.D. or have at least 3 years’ research experience.

Age: Preference will be given to candidates below the age of 35.

PERIOD OF SUPPORT /RETURN GRANT /TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SUPPORT
1-2 years. A further extension of up to a maximum of one year, and dependent on performance, age and availability of funds, may be considered.
During the second year the fellow will be assessed and the concession of a “return grant”, to be utilized in the fellow’s home country, will be considered.
Stipends are calculated to cover the cost of normal living expenses for one person at the location of the individual host institute;
Other training costs include travel to and from the host country and medical health insurance.

Confirmation of research position from the applicant’s home institute and evidence of continuation of present employment upon completion of fellowship, with a formal acceptance to provide a suitable position and relevant laboratory space for at least the entire duration of the “return grant”.

Submission deadline
Complete applications from nationals of ICGEB Member States must be sent to the ICGEB Liaison Officer in the applicant’s country of origin, by 31 MARCH 2010.
Italian nationals should send the complete application directly to ICGEB Trieste, by 30 APRIL 2010.

Workshop on Modern Techniques in Biology for teachers involved in undergraduate/post graduate teaching in Life Sciences



What is this all about?
A workshop on, “Modern Techniques in Biology” is being organized jointly by Departments of Biotechnology, Botany and Zoology, University of Pune from 15th to 25th February, 2010 for teachers involved in undergraduate/post graduate teaching in Life Sciences. The course would consist of lectures from the experts in the field followed by hands on session every day. Candidates below the age of 50, holding regular positions in teaching Institutions may apply for this course. The applicants would have to be
sponsored by their own institutions.

Amplification of chirality and autocatalysis in asymmetric synthesis (BRNS).

Who Can Apply?
M.Sc. in Chemistry and one year experience in teaching or in an organic synthesis laboratory.

Salary: Consolidated salary Rs 12,000 p.m. + HRA.

Job profile: Literature survey, planning and execution of experiments in organic synthesis laboratory, collection and analysis of experimental data, preparation and submission of research reports and other research related work assigned from time to time.
