What is this all about?
IIT Bombay Summer Internship Scheme that was funded by IRCC has been discontinued. Interested students may use the Summer Training Scheme supported by Academic office.
IIT Bombay Research Fellowship Scheme aims to attract professionals and students of proven calibre towards research activities at IIT Bombay. The awardees are expected to work on research projects and could be considered for admission into post-graduate degree / Ph.D Programs subject to fulfilling normal IIT Bombay admission requirements.
IIT Bombay Research Fellowship Scheme
The awardees will be selected based on their academic record and an interview, followed by a written test (if necessary).
They will be expected to work on research projects for a minimum period of one year in different Departments/ Schools/ Centres/ Inter-disciplinary Programs based on their academic background and research interests.
The Research Fellowship Scheme is open to B.Tech. / B.E. / M.Tech. / MBA / M.A. / M.Com. / M.Sc. / MBBS or equivalent degree, with or without experience. Students with research inclinations in Humanities, Bio-sectors, Management and with background other than the above can also apply.
The awardees with B. Tech./B.E. or M.Sc. qualification will be awarded a stipend of Rs. 8,000 - 10,000/- p.m.. Degree holders with experience may be considered for a higher amount.
Other benefits include funding for participation in national & international conferences, Library facilities, hostel accommodation and working with proven international collaborators (where applicable).
Hostel accommodation may be provided subject to availability.
Selection Procedure
The selection procedure consists of preliminary screening of online applications, followed by personal interviews to be held in a decentralized manner at the department level.
Selection criteria will include consistently brilliant academic performance (relative rank in the class/University), work carried out by the student besides his regular academic work, participation/recognition in competitions such as Techfest, Olympiads, National Talent Search Exams, and performance in the interview.

1) Would the Fellowship Scheme facilitate an automatic Registration for PG degree in IIT Bombay?
Selection for fellowship scheme does not imply automatic registration for a PG programme. However, selection procedure for PG programme/ Fellowship Scheme can be held simultaneously.
2) Does one have to send money along with the application form?
No.
3) Can MCA, Pharmacy (B.Pharm/M.Pharm), Veterinary, Management degree holders/ final year students also apply for these fellowship Schemes?
Yes.
4) Can a B.Sc graduate / student apply for these fellowship schemes?
No.
5) Can I edit my details after I applied?
No.
