The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bangalore, is a premier national Institute in the country dedicated
to research in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Allied Sciences & Technology. The Institute has field stations at Kavalur & Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu, Gauribidanur & Hosakote in Karnataka, and Leh & Hanle in J&K. The Institute is spearheading a project to build a modern and large Solar Telescope in India at a suitable location. Evaluation studies are on at Hanle & Merak (J & K ) and Devasthal (Uttarakhand). Applications for the post of Scientist –B are invited from bright, young, and highly motivated individuals to involve in the development of state of the art instrumentation and studies for various aspects of the project, at any of the sites taken up for study and at the field stations of the Institute including Head quarters at Bangalore. The qualifications, experience, and locations of posting required are as follows:
Who Can Apply?
M.Sc First class in Physics from a recognized University Two years of research experience as Research Trainee/or JRF in one of the leading national laboratories in Physics Familiarity with optical and/or spectroscopic instrumentation with electronics data acquisition – Knowledge of computer programming for data analysis
Desirable : Experience in programming in Linux using IDL Software for data handling and fluency in MS Office

Scale of Pay Band Rs.15600-39100 plus Grade Pay of Rs. 5400/-
