What is this all about?
SUMMER SCHOOL ON FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS AT IMSC, CHENNAI
There will be a three weeks workshop on ``Functional Analysis" from 27th June (Sunday) to July 16th (Saturday) at the basic level of the following topics:
1. Geometric aspect of Banach Space.
2. Spectral analysis of a self-adjoint operator,
3. Distribution Theory,
4. Harmonic Analysis,
5. Banach algebra
6.C* -algebra
Basic prerequisite: Basic set theory and topology, Measure theory and Complex Analysis.
Target audience: Students those who have completed 1st year MSc in Maths and above. Interested participants are requested to post a mail a short CV to anilesh@imsc.res.in or parthac@imsc.res.in A recomendation letter is required for interested particants who are not in the above category.
Our future plan is to continue this workshop in an advance level in the coming month Dec 2010 at Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.
Our brief plan for this summer goes as follows:
1st week:
Geometry aspect of Banach Space -Sudipta (IITK) and Anilesh (IMSC)
Spectral analysis of self adjoint operators-Krishna (IMSC)
2nd week:
Distribution Theory -Radha (IITM)
Harmonic Analysis- E K Narayanan (IISC)
Banach Algebra -Arup Paul (ISI Delhi) and Partha (IMSC)
C-algebra -Anilesh (IMSC) & Debasish (ISI KOLKATA)
3rd week:
We will continue these topics of 1st and 2nd weeks in an advanced level depending on the students participation.
