Scientist and Engineer Positions in Large Solar Telescope Building Project at IIAP Bangalore

The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) is a premier national Institute in the country dedicated to
research in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Allied Sciences & Technology. The Institute has field stations at Kavalur and Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu, Gauribidanur and Hoskote in Karnataka, and Leh and Hanle in J and K. The Institute is spearheading a project to build a modern and large Solar Telescope in India at a suitable location. Evaluation studies are on at Hanle and Merak in J and K and Devasthal in Uttarakhand. Applications are invited from bright, young and highly motivated individuals to involve in the
development of state of the art instrumentation and studies for various aspects of the project at any of the sites taken up for study and at the field stations of the Institute including Headquarters at Bangalore for the following positions:
1. SCIENTIST-B

Qualification: M.Sc. First Class in Physics from a recognized University. Three years of research experience as Research Trainee or JRF in one of the leading national labs in Physics. Familiarity with optical and spectroscopic instrumentation, having electronic data acquisition system. Working knowledge of computer programming for data analysis for UNIX platform.

2. ENGINEER-B

Scale of Pay Band and Grade Pay: Rs.15600-39100 and Grade Pay Rs.5400/-.

Qualification: MCA/M.Tech/M.Sc. First Class in Computer Science/Information Technology. Three years
experience as Engineer Trainee or Technical/Engineer Associate in a national lab in photonics related
instrumentation. Working knowledge of Lab View, IDL, and; MAT Lab for development of Data interface and acquisition.
