This is an excellent opportunity for motivated and talented youngsters to enter the exciting field of research in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Selected candidates will be provided studentship/fellowship, annual book grant, accommodation, and medical facilities.
Eligibility
Applications are invited from the motivated candidates with outstanding academic credentials, having either completed their degree or completing by July 2011. Check for more in the website.
Selection Procedure
The selection procedure will involve: a screening test, and personal interview at IIA, Bangalore for those candidates shortlisted in the screening test. Candidates qualified in Physics subject in JEST scoring 96 percentile and above, and/or Physics subject in GATE scoring 96 percentile and above, and/or UGC-CSIR-NET for Junior Research Fellowship will be exempted from the screening test.

Date: 18 December 2010, Saturday
Time: 10:00 am
Duration: 3 hours
Venue: Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kodaikanal, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Varanasi and Udaipur.
Other Details
The screening test will consist of multiple-choice questions on basic Mathematics & Physics and Advanced Physics (M. Sc. Physics syllabus), engineering subjects. Candidates selected to participate in the screening test will receive an admit card from the institute. To participate in the screening test, candidates will have to bring (1) admit card and (2) HB pencil for marking the OMR Answer Sheet. Based on the test results, candidates will be called for interviews at IIA, Bangalore.
