Applications are invited for the purely temporary positions of Project Associate/Sr. Project Assistant in the Ganga River Basin Management project. Applicants can apply on plain paper giving details of educational qualifications and experience starting from class 10. Applicants without the right kind of background/ experience will not be considered.

Job Description:
For Project Associate:
•Setting up a data centre to handle all the data needs of the project for all thematic groups that involves geographical and other data.
•To handle responsibilities of the system and database administrator for the project.

For Sr. Project Assistant:
•To handle procurement, installation and deployment of hardware, software and data for the data centre.
•To build and maintain the website for the project.
•To interface with and service the data requirements of other thematic groups of the project.

Qualifications:
•BTech(CSE/IT/eqivalent)/MCA/MSc(Math/Phy/CS) with some experience relevant to the job description for Project Associate.

•BSc/MSc/MCA or equivalent. For BSc/MSc must have a one or two year, recognized diploma in computing. Strong programming skills. BSc/MSc should be in Maths or Physics.

Other requirements:
a) Experience with geographical information systems (GIS), related packages and data handling is highly desirable.
b) Proficiency in creating and administering databases – especially open source databases.
c) Should be able to build and maintain websites.
d) Proficiency with Unix/Linux and related system administration.
e) Strong oral and written communication skills in English.

Salary Range:
A consolidated salary will be fixed based on qualifications and experience as follows:
Project Associate: Rs.10000 - 1000 - Rs 20000
Sr. Project Assistant: Rs.7000 – 700 - Rs14000
