Summer Training Program at Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics | SINP Kolkata



What is this all about?
Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) invites applications for Summer Students' Programme in which students participate in research and developmental works that are of interest in SINP. This programme is normally offered between the months of May and July and the expected duration of a project is approximately 8 weeks.

Who Can Apply?
First year M.Sc./equivalent B. Tech. students with excellent academic records in Physics/ Chemical/ Biophysical Sciences. The applicant must have a B. Sc. degree in the relevant field or should have completed at least 3 years of a 5 year integrated M. Sc. course. Only those candidates whose academic interests overlap with areas being pursued in SINP will be considered.

Areas of research in SINP include
Biophysics, Chemical Sciences, Crystallography & Molecular Biology, Experimental Condensed Matter Physics, Experimental High Energy Physics, Microelectronics, Nuclear and Atomic Physics, Plasma Physics, Surface Physics, Theoretical Physics and Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics. Stipend: Admitted candidates would be provided a daily allowance for the duration of their stay (up to a maximum of 60 days) and TA (up to AC 3-Tier equivalent train fare) as per rules. Limited hostel facilities for the outstation candidates are available.

Applications
Interested persons should apply on-line by accessing the on-line application form. Duplicate applications may be rejected. Take a print out of the application for your record. In addition to the application, the candidate must submit the following information.

One letter of recommendation.The letter of recommendation may be written by your teacher/academic advisor using the format given.

Photocopies of mark sheets and other supporting documents will be required once the names of shortlisted candidates are published in the website.

Envelope containing the recommendation letter should be marked “Summer Students' Programme 2010” on the top and should be sent before February 20, 2010 to:
