JRF vacancy in Biomechanics (DBT funded) at IISER Pune

Institute invites applications from Indian nationals for the posts of “Junior Research Fellow” under the following research project funded by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India.

Name of the Research Project : “Biomechanics of Synaptogenesis : The Role of Mechanical Tension” funded by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. Qualification Required: M.Sc. degree in Biology or Physics from a recognized University with minimum 55% marks/ equivalent grade. Prospective candidates should have a flair for interdisciplinary research. Physics students with a strong interest in Biological systems or Biology students with a sound knowledge of basic Physics are encouraged to apply.

Fellowship: Rs. 12000 p.m. during 1st and 2nd year and Rs. 14000/- p.m. during 3rd year as per DST norms.

Tenure of the post: Three years subject to satisfactory performance of the incumbent and continuation of research project.

Age: 28 (Shall not exceed as on the closing date of advertisement)

This is a collaborative project between researchers based at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune and Raman Research Institute (RRI), Bangalore. The selected candidate will be working with both groups to perform complementary experiments and will be required to travel between Pune and Bangalore frequently. The list of the shortlisted candidates for interviews with details of date, time and venue will be put up on the website by May 10, 2010.

The print out of the prescribed application form sent to us signed and dated by the applicant along with recent passport size photograph and photocopies of relevant certificates and other testimonials in support of age, qualification, caste, experience etc. will be collected at the time of interview. Applicant has to bring all the original certificates at the time of interview for the purpose of verification along with one set of photocopies.
