Applications are invited for the following Junior Research Fellowship position to work on the DST funded project, “Synthesis of Novel Drug-like Scaffolds By Diastereoselective Intra-molecular Aza-Diels-Alder Cyclization Based on α-Aminoacid and Vanillin Precursors”.

Junior Research Fellowship
Fellowship: `16000 (basic) + 4800 (HRA) + = ` 20800. The monthly stipend is fixed and non-negotiable. It must be noted that the fellowship is for 3 years alone and no claim shall be made by the candidate for extrapolation of this project work into PhD program now or later

Duration: The candidate is permitted to work under observation for an initial period of one year. Only upon finding his/ her work satisfactory, the term may be extended for further two years.

Responsibilities: The selected candidate will be responsible for the design and development of synthetic methods to obtain proposed small molecules which will be tested in relevant pharmacological assays within an in-house or external collaboration. The work includes literature search, proper design and performing reactions, isolation, purification, critical data analysis, interpreting and integrating experimental results with project objectives, characterization of products, documentation, preparing reports, and presentations etc.

Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry (NET/ Lecturership qualification is preferable) from a recognized university/institute, with an academic or industrial laboratory experience in multi-steps, heterocyclic synthesis. The candidate should have in-depth knowledge and skill in organic synthesis and adequate experiences in analyzing spectral data. Working knowledge with MS Office products is essential, while prior knowledge of structure-drawing packages like ISIS/Chemdraw/ChemSketch are highly desirable. The candidate should be willing to work in a team environment
