Applications are invited from B.Sc., B.Tech., M.Sc. , students and high school teachers of any branch of sciences for participating in a 6-week summer research programme being conducted at the School of Life
Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The Summer Programme is a part of the UGC resource networking programme. The objective of this programme is to motivate and stimulate young and creative minds to pursue a career in science.


Summer Research Fellowship Program 2011 at IIT Delhi

SUMMER RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME AT IIT DELHI

IIT Delhi has instituted a prestigious summer research fellowship programme for providing an opportunity to exceptionally good undergraduate students of different engineering institutes in India, other than IIT Delhi (and if possible, abroad) for Top ten of the classes to execute an innovative research and development project under thecguidance of an IIT Delhi faculty. The fellow will register at IIT Delhi as a casual student; she/he will not be required to pay institute registration fees.

About the Fellowship
Duration The Fellowship work can be done in a period of 8-12 weeks which can be availed of during at most two visits.Support The fellowship will cover the following:
(a) cost of travel in the country, to and from IIT Delhi;
(b) stay at IIT Delhi during the visit(s), including boarding and lodging in
the Institute hostels; and
(c) a fellowship of Rs. 500/- per week.
The fellow will have to pay the insurance charges.


IISc Summer Fellowship 2010 in Science and Engineering for SC/ST Students

What is this all about?
Indian Institute of Science invites applications for the IISc. Summer Fellowship in Science and Engineering for SC/ST Students - 2010

Eligibility:
SC/ST students studying I year M.Sc in science disciplines (Biological, Physical, Chemical and Mathematical Sciences) or III year B.E./B.Tech or equivalent degree, during the academic year 2009-10.

Selection Criteria:
IISc. will evolve a suitable criteria for selecting the candidates for the programme.

Financial Support: IISc. will provide:
- Travelling allowance equivalent to II Class train fare from College/residence to IISc. and back.
- Free board and lodging (on shared basis) at IISc.
- Fellowship of Rs.5,000/- and a book grant of Rs.1500/-

Features of the Programme:
Selected candidates will work with one of the IISc Faculty members and learn various techniques used in research for a period of one month during May-June 2010.

Last date for submission of filled in application form is 8th April 2010.

Eligibility
 Any undergraduate student, who has completed at least 2 years of study towards an engineering degree, is amongst top ten positions in her/his respective programme will be eligible to apply for this fellowship. Students who will be completing this requirement by May 2010 are also eligible.

How to apply
Application The application form should be downloaded from IIT Delhi website. The applicant must contact IIT Delhi faculty in whose area she/he wishes to execute research and get faculty member’s concurrence
in writing on the form. She/he should submit the following:
(a) Application form duly recommended by IITD faculty member
(b) Resume
(c) One consolidated grade card; and rank in class.
(d) No Objection Certificate from the parent institution stating the starting and ending dates for carrying out full time research work at IIT Delhi under the fellowship programme.
(e) One photograph (Passport size), pasted on the application form.
(f) One reference letter in a sealed envelope.

The above documents along with covering letter should reach the Deputy Registrar UGS, IIT Delhi, Hauz Khas, New Delhi 110 016.

Submission Deadline
Applications will be received until 17:00 hours on 12th March, 2010.
Decision List of Fellows will be announced by 26th March, 2010.
Start Summer work can start after 07th May 2010.

Summer Training/Research Program 2010 for BSc/Msc Students at IISER Mohali

What is this all about?
Applications are invited for Summer Research Program 2010 at IISER Mohali.

Who Can Apply?
Students completing first year of their MSc program or those completing 2nd year/3rd year of BSc, will be able to spend 2 months at IISER Mohali during the summer, in order to work on specific research projects with IISER faculty. The principle objective of the program is to provide exposure to research methodology and a research environment to bright students. This exposure to excitement in different scientific fields is expected to motivate them to take up careers in science.

Dates: The summer program will run between 15th May, 2010 and 15th July, 2010. The exact starting dates are flexible to some extent. Selected students are advised to contact their supervisors and fix up a starting date. However, a student's stay at IISER Mohali should include the period between 1st and 30th June, 2010.

Duration: The minimum period of summer research is one month and can be extended up to a maximum period of two months.

The Program: The summer program has two components-
(a) Research: which the student will carry out in consultation with his/her supervisor and

(b) Interdisciplinary Course Work: which will involve a series of lectures to be delivered by scientists working in various fields. The course is scheduled for the period of 1st and 30th June 2010 and all the students selected for summer program are required to attend it.

At the end of the summer program, students are required to submit a report about their research. All students who successfully complete the summer program will receive a certificate from IISER Mohali. Students who perform very well during the summer program will receive additional Merit Certificates.

Fellowship: Students will receive a fellowship of Rs. 5000.00 (Rupees Five Thousand only) per month. Students will also be paid second class train fare for their journey to IISER Mohali and return.

Accommodation and food: If necessary, IISER Mohali can provide accommodation
and food at IISER Mohali student hostels on payment basis.

The application can be completed through a online form.

The last date for receiving online applications is March 1, 2010. Application by any other means will not be accepted and the last date will not be extended under any circumstances
Each summer student is required to submit a formal written report upon completion of the project.
