Interview Selection Criteria & instructions for Post Graduate Research Program in Engineering by CSIR

Congratulations to all the candidates selected for Interview!!!
Following is the information provided by CSIR
Information for All CSIR-PGRPE Candidates:
1. Since we had an overwhelming response (over 15000 applicants), following criteria were applied to determine valid applicants:

a) Only those applicants who have either passed their B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc.(Engineering) degree in the year 2008 or the year 2009 have been considered as valid applicants.

b) Candidates who have appeared for their final B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc.(Engineering) examination in the year 2009 and whose results are awaited have been considered provisionally valid applicants based on their performance upto 7th semester.

2. Based on these valid applicants (more than 14000), Technology Area wise lists of short-listed candidates for interview have been prepared and displayed along with cut off CGPA/Percentages. Following process has been used for short-listing of candidates for interview in each Technology Area:

a) For each Technology Area merit list has been prepared by including those applicants who have indicated that area as their first or second preference. Applicants in the merit list for each Technology Area upto the merit rank equal to eight (8) times the number of seats available in that Technology Area have been short-listed for interview, and the corresponding cut-off percentages have been displayed for each Technology Area. In case more than one valid applicant had their percentage equal to the cut-off percentage for a Technology Area, then all of them have been short-listed for interview for that Technology Area.

b) While preparing the merit list a benefit of 5% marks has been given to candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.

c) In addition to the above short-listed candidates, candidates from IITs, IT-BHU, ISMU and BITS-Pilani having CGPA equal to or greater than 8.0 (including 5% benefit given to SC/ST candidates) have also been short-listed for interview for the Technology Areas of their first and second preference.

d) CGPAs have been converted to equivalent percentages by a linear method which converts the highest possible CGPA in the system to 100% on the percentage scale.

3. Any applicant who fulfills the short-listing criteria mentioned above for a particular Technology Area and whose name does not appear in the list of short-listed candidates for interview for that Technology Area may communicate to the following email address <admission@csir.res.in> with the email subject line as “PGRPE : Missing Name” indicating his/her name, and the registration number latest by August 3, 2009.
