Summer institutes which provide training without stipend but for free of cost.
To be frank many govt research institutes under different departments(like DST,DBT, ICMR, ICAR, DOD,CSIR) conduct summer training programs. Notification of which can be seen from August to January every year.

16.the most important point to be noted is ... contacting faculty members/scientist of any institutes for Summer Training Vacancies. Donot worry scientist are really good people... they will surely reply to your queries.

17. Summer trainings are not pertained to a particular branch of science....it can be availed by all the engg students with any subject...just you need to search the right institutes and your area of interest.
