Centre for Earth Sciences
What is this all about?
The Centre for Earth Sciences, IISc, invites applications for faculty positions from motivated individuals with an established record of independent, high quality research and commitment to teaching.
The Centre is presently about two years old and its proposal entitled Research, Education, and Manpower Development in the Discipline of Earth Processes has recently been funded by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India. Over a span of the next five years, the proposal aims to establish laboratory and research facilities in the core areas of earth sciences and to launch an M.Tech. programme in earth sciences.
Who Can Apply?
The Centre is interested in candidates with specialization in geomorphology, structural geology, sedimentology, geophysics, geochemistry, hydrogeology or computational methods. Candidates with specialization in other areas of earth science are also encouraged to apply.
Job profile
The successful candidates are expected to establish independent research groups, develop graduate level courses, initiate multi-disciplinary research activities, and to contribute to the implementation of the MoES funded project.
The Centre prefers applications at Assistant Professor’s level; candidates who have made outstanding research contributions and are experienced in research guidance and teaching may also apply for higher
positions.
