What is this all about?
The Centre for Earth Sciences, IISc, invites applications for faculty positions from motivated individuals with an established record of independent, high quality research and commitment to teaching.
The Centre is presently about two years old and its proposal entitled Research, Education, and Manpower Development in the Discipline of Earth Processes has recently been funded by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India. Over a span of the next five years, the proposal aims to establish laboratory and research facilities in the core areas of earth sciences and to launch an M.Tech. programme in earth sciences.
Who Can Apply?
The Centre is interested in candidates with specialization in geomorphology, structural geology, sedimentology, geophysics, geochemistry, hydrogeology or computational methods. Candidates with specialization in other areas of earth science are also encouraged to apply.
Job profile
The successful candidates are expected to establish independent research groups, develop graduate level courses, initiate multi-disciplinary research activities, and to contribute to the implementation of the MoES funded project.
The Centre prefers applications at Assistant Professor’s level; candidates who have made outstanding research contributions and are experienced in research guidance and teaching may also apply for higher
positions.

We are looking for highly motivated, competent scientists of Indian Nationality with established credentials and Ph.D. in respective area (Faculty fellow), Ph.D. with at least four years’ post doctoral research experience (Assistant professor), Ph.D. with at least eight years’ post doctoral research experience including evidence of independent research (Associate Professor) and established scientists with proven credentials for independent research and leadership (Professor). While applications in all areas of research pursued at Bose Institute would be considered, preference would be given to candidates whose expertise and interest would strengthen and/or complement the ongoing programmes. These comprise plan Institutional progarmmes:
(i) Improvement of Plants: Biotechnological, Genomic and Proteomic Approach;

About the Institute in Brief
Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Asia’s first Space University was established under the Department of Space in September 2007. IIST is presently offering 4-year B. Tech programmes in “Aerospace Engineering”, “Avionics” and “Physical Sciences”. Ph. D programmes have already been initiated, while the M. Tech programmes and Post-Doctoral Fellowship in specific areas of Space Science and Technology will be offered soon. IIST provides a vibrant and stimulating environment for research works and the Institute is setting up state-of-the-art facilities including high performance computing facilities to create the right research ambience.
