Research Trainee position for Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope Development at NCRA - TIFR

Research Trainee (1 Post - Unreserved; HQ: Pune)

NCRA-TIFR is seeking highly motivated candidate to work on state-of-the-art instrumentation and software development for the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (including research on receivers, control systems, algorithms, digital signal processing, etc), while also working for a Ph.D. in astronomy.

Educational qualification: 1st class B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Communication, Mechanical, or Control and Instrumentation branches, or M.Sc. in Physics. Those appearing, or who have just appeared, for the qualifying exams may also apply.

Stipend: A fixed monthly stipend of Rs. 12,000 during the initial one-year training period as a Research Trainee (bond applicable). On successful completion of the training, the trainee will be appointed as a Research Associate (regular post) in the grade PB-3 Rs. 15,600-39,100 + Grade Pay 5,400 (plus allowances), with an initial one-year probation.

Age: Below 25 years on August 1, 2010. Age relaxation as per GOI rules applies to SC / ST / OBC / PH candidates applying for the post.

General: Candidates are liable to be transferred to other Centres or Field stations of the institute. Candidates called for the written test and interview will be reimbursed 2nd class (non-AC) train fare.

Indian government has taken great care this year and announced many Telescope trainee jobs in many centers, very intresting really.
