Responsibilities:
•Design, develop, maintain and improve data management systems for agricultural research with Microsoft Access and/or other relevant databases as a back-end.
•Design, develop, maintain and improve front-end tools for the above database using Visual Basic 2008/2010.
•Manage, maintain and improve an in-house VBA software customized for agricultural (maize breeding) research.
•Implement the above data management systems at CIMMYT and client sites.
•Train CIMMYT staff and clients in the use of the above data management systems.
•Perform other job-related duties as required.
Requirements:
•M.Sc. in computer science.
•Proficiency in SQL, Visual Basic 2008 (or above), Visual Basic for Applications (Excel), experience with the use of Microsoft Access, SQL server.
•Experience or knowledge of Java is desirable.
•5 or more years of relevant experience in developing data management systems.
•Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
•Ability to work collegially and collaboratively in diverse, multicultural partnerships.
•A willingness to travel nationally and internationally to CIMMYT and CIMMYT client locations.
General: The position is initially for three years, renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the Institute's continuing need for the position. An attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.
