Junior Research Fellowship / PhD Admissions in Physical Research Laboratory | Autonomous Institution Under the Department of Space

What is this all about?
RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES FOR EXCEPTIONALLY TALENTED AND STRONGLY  MOTIVATED STUDENTS PRL INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP 2010(to pursue doctoral research)

About PRL
PHYSICAL RESEARCH LABORATORY (PRL) is an autonomous institution under the Department of Space and was established in 1947. The current areas of research at PRL are Astronomy and Astrophysics, Geosciences, Planetary Sciences and Exploration, Space and Atmospheric Sciences, Experimental Laser and Atomic Physics and Theoretical Physics. It has two campuses at Ahmedabad and astronomical and solar observatories at Mt. Abu and Udaipur respectively.

Ph.D. students at PRL, referred to as Research Scholars, take courses in the first year and then start their research with a guide. Research scholars are awarded a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for the first two years, and subsequently a Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) for the remaining three years.

Who Can Apply?
M.Sc. in one of the following subjects: Physics, Space Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry (Physical, Nuclear / Analytical), Geology, Geophysics and Ocean Sciences. A minimum of 60% marks at the Bachelor’s and Master’s level is required for all candidates. Those appearing for
Master’s Degree examination in 2010 may also apply.

Age: Not more than 25 years as on 31.12.2009. This may be relaxed for exceptional candidates.
