What is this all about?
 Functional characterization of Indian HIV-1 subtype C Tat and Rev proteins and construction of subtype C specific siRNA

Who Can Apply?
M Sc. (Please note that the candidates who have appeared for Final year M Sc and are awaiting their results are not eligible. Only those candidates whose results have been declared at the time of submission of application may apply).

Candidate having experience in routine Molecular Biology (Cloning, Sequencing, PCR etc.) and Cell Culture Techniques. Candidates should be willing to work with HIV samples.

Salaray: Rs 7,800 consolidated p.m. plus 30% HRA

Interested candidates may apply directly, strictly in the prescribed format given in the website, through e-mail, to the Investigator of the project, clearly indicating the name of the project along with their complete C.V., e-mail id, fax numbers, telephone numbers. Short listed candidates will be required to submit attested copies of all their certificates and a Demand Draft of Rs 50/- drawn on Canara Bank or Indian Bank payable at Delhi / New Delhi in favour of the Director, NII (SC / ST and PH candidates are exempted subject to submission of documentary proof), at the time of interview.

Important Info:
1. The posts exist in sponsored projects and are purely temporary. There shall be no claim for regularisation against any core posts of the Institute.

2. For Project Associate, Ph.D and who have qualified National qualifying examination NET/GATE/CSIR/ICMR will be given preference.

3. The candidates selected for the above posts will be on contract for one year or duration of the project whichever is shorter, at a time. The contract wherever applicable can be renewed on year to year basis within the project duration, subject to a maximum period of 7 years accumulation in one/several project.

4. The Project Associate will be paid consolidated emoluments in any of the three slabs indicated above depending on the qualifications, experience, and suitability subject to the recommendations of the Selection Committee. Project Assistant will be paid emoluments indicated above. No allowances, perks are payable over and above the consolidated emoluments. Rules and regulations governing the terms of appointment will be as applicable to the project staff.

5. No hostel/ housing facility will be provided. However allotment of shared dormitory accommodation can be considered depending on availability. No HRA will be payable if such accommodation is availed of.

6. Number of posts may vary and shall be need based. Advertisement is no commitment.

7. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.

8. The Institute reserves the right to alter the designation of the posts any time at its discretion. These posts can also be filled in a lower grade at the discretion of the Institute, in case suitable candidates with requisite qualification and experience are not forthcoming.

9. Applicants may clearly mention the category they belong to i.e SC/ST/OBC /PH and attach documentary proof of the same.

10. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview if called for.

What is this all about?
Job vacancies at National Institute of Immunology NII in the following Projects

1. Chemical biology of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and MMP inhibitors (MMPi) -a new paradigm for inhibitor design based on glycopeptidomimetics for anti-cancer drug development.


2. Glycobiology Oriented Nanotools: Mechanism based glycosyl epitopes for nanoparticle and quantum dot conjugation: a) detection, separation, and inhibition of enzymes involved in glycosylation;
b) early detection of pathogens; and
c) imaging of cancer cells.

Notification: Ph.D 2010 admission at National Institute of Immunology ,New Delhi

Who Can Apply?
M.Sc. in any branch of Science (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics) or M.Tech. or M.B.B.S. or M.V.Sc. or M.Pharm. or equivalent qualification recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, is required.First Division or equivalent grade or at least 60% of aggregate scores in all major examinations from Senior Secondary Certificate (10+2) onwards is required. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination this year may also apply; they will be admitted provisionally pending satisfactory fulfillment of the above requirements at the time of joining. Reservations are as per statutory norms.

National Institute of Immunology (NII) invites applications for its Ph.D. programme. Cutting-edge research at the Institute encompasses broad interdisciplinary areas -

Stipend: Fellowshipstipend of 12000/14000 p.m depending on the qualification.

How and Where?(selection procedures)
1. Candidates fulfilling minimum requirements will be invited for a written qualifying test at their own expenses on February 13, 2010 at any of the following four centers - Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, & Kolkata. The Institute shall try to accommodate the choice of centers indicated by the candidate. However, in case of non-availability of a seat at the centers chosen by the candidate, the candidate shall be required to appear for the written qualifying test at the centre allotted by the Institute.

2. The written test is aimed at evaluating abilities to comprehend, analyse and reason. Therefore, the examination is General Aptitude Test & no separate syllabus is prescribed.

3. The results of the written test along with the details of the interviews shall be available on the website of the Institute as well as on the Notice Board of the Institute on February 22, 2010.

4.Interviews will be held at National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi from June 3-6, 2010. The Interviews will be held in two stages. The candidates will be short-listed for the final interview based on their performance in the first interview. Final interview will be held in the last two days.

Important Info:
The selected candidates would be paid second class train fare for joining the Ph.D. programme on providing the proof of journey.

Candidates selected after the interviews will be enrolled for the Ph.D. programme of NII in academic affiliation with JNU, New Delhi.
