Polymer Science and Engineering Division
Applications are invited for the position of Post-doctoral Fellow (PDF) to work in the sponsored research project entitled “Catalyst Development for Siloxane Polymerization”. The position is tenable for one year and may be extended upon satisfactory performance. The incumbent will be responsible for designing and executing experimental work on making new catalytic species and to test the performance of catalysts in siloxane polymerization.
Essential qualifications: Candidates having PhD degree in Polymer Science / Catalysis / Organic chemistry / Silicone Chemistry are eligible. Candidates with excellent research capabilities and communication skills having linkage with industrial partners are preferred. Experience in working with Multi-nationals / Industry will be an added advantage.
Fellowship will be Rs. 30,000/- per month and is negotiable for the outstanding candidate.

Application for Ph.D. Programme (JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW)
National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), a premier Research Laboratory under the Council of Scientific and
Industrial Research (http://www.csir.res.in) is engaged in world class research in chemical and related
sciences. NCL (http://www.ncl-india.org/ ) is a major knowledge based laboratory devoted to research in

The research groups are supported by several high quality resource centres e.g. High Performance Computing facilities, Centre for Materials Characterization, Central NMR facility, Catalyst Pilot Plant,
Combi-chem-bio Resource Centre and Digital Information Resource Centre. NCL has an active research program leading to Ph.D. degree in all the above mentioned areas. It provides a stimulating atmosphere, which fosters creativity and encourages innovative thinking and research. Various awards including travel grant to attend conferences abroad are provided to Ph.D. students. Additional incentives will be available for interdisciplinary research. Applications are invited from candidates who are holding M.Sc. degree or equivalent in all branches of Science and have qualified in CSIR/UGC-NET under CSIR/UGC fellowship scheme or DBT/ICMR JRF examination scheme or BioInformatics National Certification (BINC) Examination, for admission to the Ph.D. programme. Selection for admission to the Ph.D. programme will be done on the basis of an interview to he held at NCL in broad disciplines of Organic Chemistry, Catalysis, Life Sciences, Physical & Theoretical Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Polymer Science and Chemical
Engineering. The number of students to be selected in each of the above disciplines will depend on the
vacancies that will exist for each of the disciplines. A candidate may choose to be considered in any three
of the above disciplines. The candidates will be interviewed separately in each of the disciplines of his/her
choice. Separate merit list will be prepared in each of the above disciplines.
Tenure:
The selected JRFs will be eligible for a stipend and House Rent Allowance (HRA) as admissible under rules and a Contingency grant. On completion of two years, JRFs could be upgraded to Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) on assessment. The total tenure including the fellowship period shall not exceed 5 years.
Eligibility:
The candidate should have qualified the NET examination held in June 2009 & December, 2009
under CSIR/UGC category or should have valid award letter under the above or should have qualified
under DBT/ICMR JRF examination scheme or BioInformatics National Certification (BINC) Examination.
