Who Can Apply?
Candidates who have qualified in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) (conducted jointly by the IITs and IISc. Bangalore) for M.Tech. Programmes and Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) (conducted by the M.S. University of Baroda, Varodara on behalf of AICTE, New Delhi) for M.Pharm Programme and who, in addition, possess the requisite qualifications as indicated in the Brochure for the respective department/school, are eligible respectively for admission to Post-Graduate programme leading to M.Tech./M.Pharm. degree.

Candidates whose B.Tech./B.E./B.Pharm. results are not yet declared or who are due to appear in the qualifying examinations are also eligible to apply. But at the time of test/interview/counselling they will be required to produce a certificate from the institution concerned to the effect that they have completed all requirements of the qualifying examination before the date of test/interview/counselling. There should be no examination, what so ever, pending for a later date. Admission of all such candidates shall be provisional, till they produce documentary evidence of having passed the qualifying examination. If such evidence (mark-sheet) is not produced by 30th September, their provisional admission will stand automatically cancelled without any further notice.

Admissions for CSIR's PGRPE | Post Graduate Research Programme in Engineering 2010

What is this all about?
Applications are invited for the two-year full-time residential Post Graduate Research Programme in Engineering (PGRPE ) in the cutting-edge technological areas.

The programmes are designed to give in-depth exposure and hands-on R and D experience to the candidates in the above areas. On completion of the programme, the candidates will have ample scope to join the growing R and D and industrial sectors in professionally challenging positions.

The selected candidate will be designated as Scientist Trainee under QHS scheme and they will be trained on exciting live projects so that they emerge as research ready scientists/engineers for taking up challenging positions. Such candidates shall receive a consolidated emolument of Rs.25000/- p.m. and would also enjoy other PGRPE is a four-semester (2 years) programme. Extension beyond this period for completing the programme will be decided on a case-by-­case basis. In addition, on successful completion of the PGRPE with distinction, the candidates may be considered by CSIR for absorption in CSIR as Scientists in Pay Band-3 of the Government of India (Scale Rs. 15600 - 39100/- with Grade Pay of Rs. 6600/- plus other allowances as applicable). The medium of instruction and examination will be English.

c) M.Sc. in Basic Sciences with CGPA 7.0 or 65 percent marks in aggregate in relevant disciplines.

e) M. Sc. /M.A. / MBA / M.Com. in Humanities or Social Sciences or Management with CGPA 6.5 or 60 percent marks.

The minimum qualification required for admission to M.Tech (Research) programme in Engineering, Science, Management, Humanities & Social Science is one of the following:
a) B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm/MCA or equivalent in relevant discipline with 60 percent marks in aggregate (or 6.5 CGPA).
